On May 11, 2010, the seventh meeting of Chinese and Arab senior officials for the China-Arab Cooperation Forum was held in Beijing Kempinski Hotel. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun addressed the meeting. Senior officials from the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Foreign Ministries of Arab countries, the secretariat of the League of Arab States, as well as diplomatic envoys of Arab countries to China attended the meeting. Both sides reviewed the activities of the forum since the sixth meeting of senior officials and held in-depth discussion on the outcome document to be signed at the fourth ministerial meeting of China-Arab Cooperation Forum. They also held political consultations on international and regional issues of common concern and reached broad consensus.

Zhai in his address pointed out that the China-Arab friendly cooperative relationship based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence has yielded fruitful results over the past half a century. Amid the profound changes in the current international situation, it is in the common interests of both sides that China and Arab nations consolidate political trust, enhance cooperation and establish strategic cooperative relations. The China-Arab Cooperation Forum is an important outcome of the new type of China-Arab partnership. It is a shared responsibility and goal of both sides to do well in the forum-related work, translate both sides’ will to enhance collective cooperation into concrete cooperation measures and make the forum an important channel for boosting bilateral strategic cooperation and uplifting their partnership. China is ready to work with the Arab side to build the brand of China-Arab Cooperation Forum and jointly write a new chapter for China-Arab friendly cooperation.

The Arab representatives at the meeting spoke highly of the achievements made in China-Arab friendly relations and the forum's work. They held that China-Arab friendly relationship, with its solid foundation, has huge potential for development. In particular, to push bilateral cooperative relations to a higher level conforms to each other's aspiration and will bring benefit to both peoples and contribute to world peace and development. The Arab side will continue to make unremitting efforts in promoting China-Arab cooperation and the forum's development.
